FD60 fire doors
FD60 means the assembly resisted fire for 60 minutes under test, double the FD30 figure. The leaves are typically 54mm rather than 44mm and considerably heavier. FD60 is specified where the consequence of failure is higher, which usually means commercial buildings, taller residential blocks and particular compartment walls.

FD60 is not simply a better fire door to fit where an FD30 would do. It is heavier, it is thicker, it needs a frame and hinges rated to carry it, and specifying it where FD30 was required adds weight and cost without adding compliance.
The rating comes from the fire strategy for the building, not from preference.
